Mock Flier

Brooks-McFadden-InDesign-FlierDescription: A black and white promotion flier for an event titled, “Graduate Leadership Conference.”

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): I created the flier in Adobe InDesign. The shapes were created with the rectangle tool and most are set at 30% opacity to create a visual depth to the flier. The three repeating squares in the top left and right side of the flier create unity by the . The white space in the bottom right brings the viewers eye towards the date, time, and place.

Message: To bring out the message of the flier the question “Do you want to have a competitive edge in business?” I placed it at the top. The audience instantly knows the message is for developing business skills.

Audience: The target audience is defined in several elements of the flier. The question at the top applies to those involved in business or seeking to develop business skills. The photo gives a hint of the age group it applies to and the title shouts it is for graduates. The information for those eligible is grouped above the date time and place.

Top Thing Learned: As I created this flier I now better understand how get the message to the audience first. While visual aesthetics are important, there is a need to relay the message to the audience as soon as possible.

  1. Hey I really like how you changed it up a bit and put the words in different places on your design. It really works well and keeps the reader reading. I also love that the box you have around the title is faded out so as to see the picture behind it. Excellent placement of repetition!
